Rookie Adam Saad of Gold Coast has impressed the AFL club during the 2015 preseason NAB Challenge games and has been rewarded for his fine performances. Saad was promoted to the club’s senior list on March 24 after playing well in all three of the team’s preseason contests. The 20-year-old defender finished the match against the Brisbane Lions with 15 possessions on March 20 and that cemented his position with the senior squad. Footy fans and punters can look over the odds this year and then make a CrownBet AFL Grand Final wager.
Saad played with Coburg of the VFL last year and had a fine season and will now be competing for a spot on Gold Coast’s opening-day roster. Marcus Ashcroft, the Suns’ football manager spoke with the press recently and said,
Adam’s elevation to the senior list will come as no surprise to our players or support staff, having impressed everyone with his attitude to training and preparation since his arrival to the club. His fearlessness and willingness to take the game on complemented our counter attack off half-back throughout the NAB Challenge games.
Ashcroft added that Saad’s steady development gives his side a lot of depth in the backline and he’s looking forward to seeing the youngster make his AFL debut in the near future. Last year Saad played in 18 games in the VFL and averaged 19.5 disposals a contest. He was then selected with the 25th overall pick in last year’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft. The Suns’ announced that Greg Broughton was also promoted to the senior side. The halfback just missed making the squad last year.
