Brisbane Lions Have New Look Squad

There’s a void in the forward line of the Brisbane Lions right now as Jonathan Brown retired last year and the club is trying to fill it in to bolster its attack this season. The three-time premiership player was the top goal kicker over the past 10 years and will certainly be hard to replace. However, newly-appointed skipper Tom Rockliff recently spoke with AFL.com.au and said the team will be attempting to come up with a more flexible set-up near the goal. Fans of the Lions may want to back them in the 2015 campaign with a BetEasy AFL Grand Final Bonus Bet.

Rockliff told the site,

It’s going to take a little bit of time, but Michael Close is training well and we’ll probably go for a bit of a different looking forward line this season. We get Brent Staker back, and Luke McGuane is back from his knee troubles as well. We’ve obviously got Stefan Martin and Matt Leuenberger both up and firing at the moment, so … we might have two or three targets down there and also might see a midfielder rest deep at times as well.

The Lions feel they have a solid squad this year since they acquired midfielder Dayne Beams in the offseason from Collingwood as well as trading for Allen Christensen from Geelong. In addition, former Carlton midfielder Mitch Robinson was also signed and Rockliff believes he’ll give the side some added toughness. The captain said the team has been missing a hard edge over the past couple of years and Robinson will be able to provide them with it. With a new-look squad ready for action this could be a good time to use a BetEasy AFL Grand Final Bonus Bet on Brisbane.

There are also several players entering their second seasons with the team and management believes they’ll be even better in 2015 after fine seasons in 2014. These include Darcy Gardiner, James Aish and Daniel McStay. They also have Lewis Taylor, who was the winner of the NAB AFL Rising Star award. All of these players were selected in the draft two years ago and are expected to be key members of this year’s side. Don’t forget, a BetEasy AFL Grand Final Bonus Bet can be used to back any team this season.
