The Richmond Tigers are still confident that they’ll be able tore-sign Alex Rance before his current contract with the AFL club expires at the end of the season. However, the 25-year-old has yet to sign on the dotted line and some news reports are suggesting he may even retire from the sport after the 2015 campaign. The Tigers haven’t given up hope though and are still instigating contract negotiations with the player and his management. They’re hoping he’ll agree to an extension and believe the talks have gone well so far. Be sure to check out the CrownBet AFL odds and wagering options on the Tigers games this season.
Dan Richardson, the football manager of Richmond recently spoke to the media and said,
We had another positive meeting today with Alex and his manager Tom Petroro. While we are working towards a positive outcome for all parties, we are not in a position to put a timeline on when negotiations will be concluded. These discussions will continue to be on-going, and will remain between Alex, Tom, and the club.
Fans are hoping Rance will re-sign with the Tigers as it will increase their chances in the CrownBet AFL betting market beyond this season.
The All-Australian defender will become a free agent at the end of the term if he doesn’t re-sign with the team. Reports out of Australia have lined him with other AFL squads such as the Fremantle Dockers and Brisbane Lions. However, it’s now believed Rance may not be interested in joining another club and he may not be interested in extending his football career at all. Richmond’s head coach Damien Hardwick doesn’t appear to be concerned though as he recently stated to a local TV station that he’s sure Rance will be a Richmond Tigers player next season.
