Feature Game #1 – Geelong Cats vs GWS Giants
When: Saturday 26th August, 7:26pm
Where: Simonds Stadium, Geelong
Odds: Cats $1.92, Giants $1.92
The Cats host the Giants on Saturday night footy in Geelong. The betting says this will be a very close match and we’ll preview the match below.
Geelong have won two in a row and they sit third on the ladder. A victory in this match would lift them above the Giants on the ladder and into a home final. They have a number of players returning and Patrick Dangerfield has been on fire lately.
GWS have won four matches on the trot and they’ll be looking to enter the bye with another win. Last round, they defeated the Eagles by 21 points and they smashed the Bulldogs in Round 21 at Etihad. They’ve never won at Kardina Park but they have enough form to break that record this week.
The Giants have only played in Geelong twice and they’re 0-2. But they came within 10 points of the Cats in the last meeting. Since 2016, the Cats are 13-2 at home but the last five wins have all been under 4 goals. So this should be another close one.
The Giants have brought back Stevie J for his second match back at Geelong since joining the Giants. Rory Lobb is also back and Matt De Boer/Harrison Himmelberg have been dropped. For the Cats, Tom Hawkins returns from suspension and his battle with Phil Davis will be interesting. They also have Mark Blicavs and Brandan Parfitt back in the lineup. While Simpson, Thurlow and Z. Guthrie were omitted.
The two sides drew in the last meeting in Round 15, 68-68. Since 2010, the Cats have won three of the five meetings.
The Cats have a great record at home and the addition of Hawkins gives them a massive advantage in the forward line. The Giants secured a draw with the Cats last meeting, but they were down by 13 points at 3 quarter time. So the Cats should just get over the line with home ground advantage.
Ladbrokes Promo Market – Best Bet: Patrick Dangerfield to have 32 or more Disposals and Geelong Cats to win the match ($4.00) – Dangerfield collected 45 disposals in the last match against the Giants.

Feature Game #2 – West Coast Eagles vs Adelaide Crows
The last match of the regular season will take place in Perth and the Eagles could be playing for finals. It’s also the last match at Subiaco as they move to a new stadium next season. But they’ll need to overcome the best side in the AFL in the Crows.
The Eagles up and down form continues as they lost another away match against the Giants last week. But the Eagles have won three in a row at home and they have extra motivation with the retirements of Matt Priddis and Sam Mitchell.
Adelaide lost a tough Friday night encounter with the Swans and they’ll be looking to enter the finals with winning form. Before that 3 point loss, they had easily beaten two sides in the top eight (Bombers and Power).
As mentioned, the Eagles are 3-0 at Subiaco since Round 17. Overall, they have a 8-3 record at the venue this season. Since 2010, the Crows are 5-4 at Subiaco. They haven’t played here this season but they won both clashes in 2016.
Josh Hill is out for the Eagles and Mark LeCras is the most likely replacement. The Crows are unchanged but they could bring in Kyle Hartigan or Paul Seedsman in Friday night team selections.
The Crows have won two of the last three against the Eagles at Subiaco. In the last meeting, the Eagles won by 29 points. Before that match, the Crows won by 29 points at Subiaco.
This should be closer than the odds say, especially if the Eagles are playing for finals. But the Crows are just stronger around the ground and they should comfortably outscore the Eagles. They also have an extra day’s rest from last Friday night. Back the Crows.
Ladbrokes Promo Market – Best Bet: Rory Laird to have 32 or more Disposals and Adelaide Crows to win the match ($3.25) – Laird had 34 disposals against the Swans last week.
