Kangaroos focusing on defence

One of the goals for the North Melbourne Kangaroos in the 2015 AFL season is to improve the side’s backline and defensive play. Captain Andrew Swallow believes the defensive side of the game needs to be better this year if the club hopes to have a successful campaign and that’s why the team has been focusing on it in the preseason. Swallow said the team plays well when it has the ball in their hands, but needs to be better when the opposition has it. He feels preseason training will allow them to find the perfect balance of offense and defence. Bettors may want to back North Melbourne this season BetEasy when it comes to making their AFL Head to Head Bets.

The skipper recently told the media that his team allowed too many easy goals, especially two seasons ago, and improved slightly in that area last year. He remarked, “But we can still get better at that again. We need to be more stringent there if we want to go to the next level.” Swallow pointed to last year’s 71-point defeat in the preliminary final to the Sydney Swans as a prime example of their weak defensive game. He added that the match against Sydney should motivate each and every player into being better this year. This should create a lot of interest this year in the BetEasy AFL Head to Head Bet market when the two teams meet this year.

According to Swallow, newly-acquired midfielder Shaun Higgins from the Western Bulldogs should help the squad improve their defensive play in 2015. Swallow said Higgins is a class player who can play anywhere on the field. “We have a lot of grunt players, myself included, but Daniel Wells, Shaun and Brent Harvey make it easier to get the ball down there and kick a winning score,” he stated. The captain also believes the addition of former Carlton player Jarrad Waite will be a big help and the further development of Ben Brown will benefit the team as there will be less pressure on forward Drew Petrie, the team’s main goal kicker.

If Swallow is right and the Kangaroos can find the right offensive and defensive balance this season then quite a few punters will be taking the team when it comes time to place a BetEasy AFL Head to Head Bet.
