Carlton Blues

Carlton Blues

Founded in 1864, the Carlton Football Club were one of the very first teams to start the football league in Victoria. They were amongst the 8 founding members who bought AFL to life in 1897, starting off as the Victorian Football League.

The club traditionally uses its home ground of Princes Park where they train and play home matches in their navy blue guernseys, giving them their nickname of the Carlton Blues. Carlton also play a lot of games at Etihad Stadium in the Docklands or the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the heart of the city. This year, Carlton were part of history as they founded a team of women for the inaugural AFL women’s pre-season.

Carlton has won many grand finals, with three consecutive flags to their name between 1968 and 1970, against Essendon and traditional rivals Collingwood.
