Located in the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland, Metricon Stadium is also known as Carrara Stadium. After the Brisbane Bears landed here for a while in 1987, the stadium received a lot of attention and underwent many renovations. In fact, the stadium will be used in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The Gold Coast Suns played their first game here in 2011 during round 10 of the AFL season. The Suns lost to Geelong on this occasion, but had their first victory here when they defeated Greater Western Sydney by 30 points in 2012. The biggest crowd this stadium has drawn for an AFL game was in 2010 when Collingwood took on the Suns. However, when Lance Franklin and Gary Ablett Jr went head to head in their new teams of the Sydney Swans and Suns in 2014, the crowds came out in the masses with 21,354 coming to watch.
